Distillate is made using high grade organic ethanol and fractional distillation using state of the art CO2 extraction technology. To create distillate, crude cannabis extract, typically an ethanol/extract solution, is first winterized or frozen to remove waxes. After the waxes, chlorophyll, terpenes, and other plant constituents are filtered out, the ethanol is removed and recaptured, using heat and a rotary evaporator.
The remaining winterized extract is then run through a distillation system to undergo a fractionation process, which uses heat and pressure to separate compounds based on their various boiling points. The cannabinoid fraction, an oil of purely cannabinoids, or what we refer to as CBD distillate.
